Young Explorer School partnering with Radiance Learning's afterschool programs provide a safe environment and motivate students to learn and have fun through academic enrichment. Our goal is to encourage students to reach their full potential in all aspects of life. Our programs help students develop into independent, confident individuals who believe they have the power to bring concepts and ideas to life. Our programs allow your child to play actively and collaborate on fun projects. They'll continue developing the intellectual, emotional, and social skills essential for success. We provide an engaging and advanced curriculum, help with their homework, do exciting activities and games, and create casual arts and crafts.
In our care, your child will receive:
Math
Our math program is designed to challenge students by building a solid math foundation through creative problem-solving. Our curriculum is in alignment with the Common Core standards. We blend challenging word problems from competitions into our class work as a mechanism to build strong thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
English (Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, and Grammar)
Our language arts program is designed to build critical skills to develop high proficiency in reading and writing and ensure academic success. Our students will work at their own pace and master each aspect of reading fluency and comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing, before moving on. Students' overall English skills will progress incrementally.
Gifted Test Prep
Our Gifted Test Prep (COGAT/NNAT, ITBS) program is designed to help provide students with the best possible chance of success. We systematically review the required basic knowledge for gifted programs, familiarize students with testing formats with ample exercises, and review test-taking strategies. We provide detailed instructions and hands-on guidance, aided with topic training and practicing logical and critical thinking skills.
STEM (Robotics)
STEM (Robotics) will introduce robotics design and programming to all students. They will be introduced to different robotics hardware and software programs based on their age and skill levels. Students will learn to design and program robots using kid-friendly software while developing mechanical, engineering, and problem-solving skills.
STEM (Programming)
STEM (Programming) will introduce computer programming and problem-solving to all students who wish to learn or update their problem-solving skills. They will be introduced to programming languages like MIT's Scratch, adapted to each child's age and skill levels.
Chess
Our experienced coach introduces the game of chess to all levels of students. They will be familiarized with competitive, scholastic chess based on their age and skill levels.
We follow LWSD Schedule.
Currently, we are picking students from Ella Baker and Rosa Parks schools. For other schools, please call us.
